Sail Port Stephens “Bay Series”

19-21 May 2023 has been set aside for the Sail Port Stephens “Bay Series”. This is exclusively for J/70's, sports boats, trailer sailers, off-the-beach dinghies and Windsurfers, hosted by The Bay Sailing Centre at Salamander Bay.

Logistics

After some negotiation, we’ve arranged for our fleet to rig and launch from D’Albora Marina at Nelson Bay. This is about 25 mins motoring from the race track and well equipped with a crane and trailer storage. D’Albora fees have landed at $375 per boat, which is more than previously advised (apologies), and includes dedicated berthing and trailer storage areas for our fleet. The Association will collect this directly. The crane will be available for launching 3-6pm on Thursday 18 May, and after racing 3-6pm on Sunday 21 May. Please let us know as soon as possible if you can’t make these times.

Social Schedule

Sail Port Stephens has announced the social schedule for competitors for the upcoming Bay Series event from 19-21 May 2023. The schedule is filled with exciting activities, including prize givings, welcome drinks, and lucky door prizes.

The Bay Series includes -

    Trailerable Yachts racing Fri/Sat/Sun
    Sportsboats & J70s racing Fri/Sat/Sun
    Off the Beach classes racing Sat/Sun
    Windsurfer classes racing Sat/Sun

On Friday, 19th May 2023, at 6 pm, competitors are invited to officially open the regatta at Cheeky Dog at Bannisters. The daily prizes for the Trailerables, Sportsboats, and J70s will be awarded during this presentation.

Saturday, 20th May 2023, at 6 pm will provide Welcome Drinks and Canapes for all competitors at Cheeky Dog, Bannisters. The daily winners will be announced during this event, and lucky door prizes including $500 gift vouchers for Bannisters will be given away.

On Sunday, 21st May 2023, the final prize giving will take place at Cheeky Dog, Bannisters, as soon as practical after the racing.

Throughout the weekend, there will be a total of $5k worth of lucky door prizes for Bannisters, to be given away on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights. The bar at the Bay Sailing Centre will be open from 3-5 pm on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Please note that there will be no BBQ at the Race HQ as welcome food and beverages will be provided at Bannisters.

All hospitality, prize givings, and announcements will be held at Cheeky Dog, Bannisters Port Stephens, making it an excellent opportunity for competitors to socialize and connect with others.
